Hendon WFC Code of Conduct

As a player you are the most important person in the sport.  Playing for Hendon WFC and for Hendon to win is hopefully an important part of being at the Club.  However winning at any cost is not the Hendon way – fair Play and respect for all others in the game is of fundamental importance to the Club, hopefully and is to be mirrored by you as a Player.

Obligations towards the game

A player should:

1.         Make every effort to develop her own sporting abilities, in terms of skill, technique, tactics and stamina.
2.         Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game, even if Hendon are in a position where the desired result has already been achieved.
3.         Set a positive example for others, particularly young players and supporters.
4.         Avoid all forms of gamesmanship and time-wasting.
5.         Always have best regard to the best interests of the game, including where publicly expressing an opinion on the game and any particular aspect of it, including others involved in the game.
6.         Not use inappropriate language.

Obligations towards Hendon WFC, herself and her team mates:

A Player should:

1.         Make every effort consistent with Fair Play and the Laws of the Game to help Hendon WFC win.
2.         Treat team mates and Officials with respect.  This includes:
           

  1. not swearing at team mates and officials
  2. not criticising team mates and officials
  3. projecting a positive attitude towards team mates and officials
  4. Responding positively to authority and instruction from within the Club.  Such direction may come from the Manager, Committee or Team Captains.  Players should abide by instructions of Team Officials at all times provided they do not contradict the spirit of this code.

3.         Pay subs on time and without prompting from the Treasurer. Training fees to be paid by the last Tuesday each month.

4.         Endeavour to be available to attend training regularly and also be available every Sunday for matches.  Where a Player is unavailable they should provide advanced notice to their Manager, directly and not through other players.
If a player is not available, then it is her obligation to contact her manager directly to confirm availability for match days before 6.30pm on a Thursday before a game.
5.         Be punctual to both training and matches.
6.         Work hard in training, giving 100% effort, to develop both themselves and the team.
7.         Wear shin pads and the appropriate footwear depending on the surface for both training and matches.
8.         Not wear exposed jewellery for either training or matches.  Any jewellery which a player does not want to remove should be taped up.
9.         Not do anything which may put themselves in a position where the Referee has to send them from the field of play or report the player for misconduct.  Where a Player is cautioned, sent from the field of play or reported to Middlesex FA for misconduct any resulting Admin fees and fines must be paid by the player to the Club promptly.

 

Respect for the Laws of the Game and competition rules

A player should:

1.         Know and abide by the Laws, rules and spirit of the game and the competition rules.
2.         Accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally.
3.         Resist any temptation to take banned substances or used banned techniques.

Respect towards Opponents

A Player should:

1.         Treat opponents (Players, Club Officials and Spectators) with due respect, irrespective of the result of the game.
2.         Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play and help injured opponents.

Respect towards the Match Officials:

A Player should:

1.         Accept the decision of the Match Official without protest.
2.         Avoid words or actions which may mislead a Match Official.
3.         Show due respect towards a Match Official.

Code of Conduct for Spectators and Parents

Spectators

Spectators should:

1.         Encourage players of Hendon WFC in a positive manner.  They should not abuse players they believe are under performing, including any individual they have particularly come to watch.
2.         Not coach from the sidelines as this will only confuse players and may contradict what the Mangers/Coaches of Hendon WFC have asked of the players.
3.         Respect Match Officials and not question their decisions.
4.         Respect the opposition players, club officials and supporters.
5.         Not use foul and abusive language on the sidelines or within the vicinity of both Hendon’s home ground and away grounds.

Code of Conduct - Parents/Spectators

Parents / Spectators have a great influence on children’s enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game – its fun. It is important to remember that however good a child becomes at football within your club it is important to reinforce the message to parents / spectators that positive encouragement will contribute to:
